The University of Michigan Taekwondo Club

About Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that traces its roots back thousands of years and, in its modern incarnation, combines traditional Korean martial arts with various other arts from surrounding areas. Modern Taekwondo came into existence a little over half a century ago, and since then it has become one of the most popular martial arts in the world. Taekwondo is particularly renowned for its fluid footwork and explosive kicks. Because of its immense popularity, Taekwondo has been an official olympic sport since the 2000 Sydney Games.

University of Michigan Taekwondo Club
The University of Michigan Taekwondo Club is a student-run organization under the University of Michigan Department of Recreation & Sports. While we emphasize the sport and athletic aspects of Taekwondo, you will learn everything necessary to be well ‐ rounded in the martial art. This is a great way for students interested in getting a great physical workout while learning and refining the fundamentals of Taekwondo. The Club is open to all levels from beginner to advanced, and we compete actively in regional and collegiate tournaments.
